Flippers launch the hedgehog in Sonic Spinball (1993), a Genesis machine built around his speed. Robotnik's fortress supplies the tables, and missing a flipper costs a life.
Toxic caves, a lava works, and a final showdown table each hide a route to a Chaos Emerald. Bumpers, a plunger, and a drain that costs a life replace the usual side-view loops, though a spin still fits the pinball fantasy.
The main Genesis platformers were already a trilogy by the time this experiment arrived. Spinball is the odd machine in that family, the one where missing a flipper is the death.
