History

Freeing a trapped soul rebuilds a house, a villager, or a shop in Soul Blazer, Quintet's top-down quest published by Enix. Empty rooms fill in as the sword clears the monster that held the soul, so combat and town repair are the same act.

It is the first of Quintet's Super Nintendo action quests from Enix, ahead of Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma. The Master's servant is the hero, sent back to a world that has been stripped of its people.

A 1992 release, the sword, and the repopulating rooms are the whole loop. Later Quintet games inherit the mood, but the soul-by-soul restoration starts in this town.
