History

Landspeeder chases use Mode 7 in Super Star Wars, the LucasArts and Sculptured Software adaptation of A New Hope. Luke, Han, and the Death Star trench each get a form, from a side-view blaster run to a into-the-screen race.

The Super Nintendo game opened a trilogy of film tie-ins on that console. Tatooine's cantina hazards and the Death Star's corridor sit beside the landspeeder's Mode 7 stretch.

Sculptured Software and LucasArts shipped it in 1992, opening a trilogy of film tie-ins. Later carts reused the blaster stages and the Mode 7 vehicle scenes, with this A New Hope board as the first of the three.
