Isometric corridors full of sudden traps form The Immortal, the dungeon adventure Electronic Arts published from an Apple IIGS original. A wrong step on a pressure plate or a missed clue in a room can end the descent immediately.
The computer game is the original design. In 1990 that Apple IIGS quest already had its wizard's search, its pits, and its room-by-room map.
The NES edition is a later port of that computer quest. The isometric view and the lethal rooms are the part that survived the move, even with a smaller presentation.
