History

B.J. Blazkowicz moves through a Nazi castle in Wolfenstein 3D, id Software's maze of guards, push-walls, and locked doors. The pistol and the stolen guns are simple, and the castle's right angles did a lot to popularize first-person shooting on PC.

id released that castle crawl in 1992, hiding secret rooms behind push-walls. A player who checks every panel finds more than the marked doors of the Nazi fortress.

The Super Nintendo port censors much of the original imagery. Swastikas, gore, and some of the castle's explicit props are altered, so the home version is not a perfect copy of the PC floors.
