Lost islands rise when fragments return to the tablet in Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past, the remake ArtePiazza and Square Enix built from the PlayStation saga. Compared with that PlayStation version, the script runs shorter and the cast is modeled in three dimensions. English players received the Nintendo 3DS edition, published by Nintendo, in 2016.
From Estard the party sails toward shores the sea had erased. Each restored land brings a trouble of its own, then another fragment opens the next gap. Job classes branch across those recovered regions. Reassembling the broken map is the campaign's spine.
Scenes that sprawled across the original PlayStation release move faster after the trim. Class changes and the island quest both survive that cut. Dimensional heroes stand in for the older field sprites of the first disc.
Dragon Quest VIII follows a cursed king on another continent and does not use this tablet. ArtePiazza and Square Enix made the remake together. Repairing the horizon one fragment at a time is the English edition Nintendo published for the Nintendo 3DS.
