History

Motion swings cut through a sky of islands, and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword opens on Skyloft above a surface unlocked one region at a time. Fi's dowsing pings when the surface region below Skyloft is the one the blade wants next.

Link's loftwing crosses the cloud barrier, and Fi guides the sword once the hero drops to the sealed ground. A remote slash has to match the angle of the blow, which makes a vertical cut and a horizontal cut different inputs.

Nintendo released that voyage in 2011 with the motion slash intact. The high-definition remake on the hybrid console is a separate product from this Skyloft departure.
