History

Four tunic colors and four Game Boy Advance cables are the requirement in The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures. Nintendo's 2004 multiplayer Zelda links those handhelds to the console so four Links can split Hyrule's screens.

Vaati and Shadow Link supply the villains, while a force gem and a cooperative puzzle keep a solo player from treating the others as decoration. The sword that duplicates Link is the premise inherited from the handheld Four Swords.

A single television is not enough for the full trick. The console reads the handhelds, and the adventure is built so the four Links have to share items instead of racing one another to Ganon.
