Animal friends rewrite copy powers in Kirby's Dream Land 2. Rick's hamster back changes a spark into a different tool. Rick the hamster, Coo the owl, and Kine the fish each change what a swallowed ability can do, which the first Dream Land never asked.
HAL Laboratory and Nintendo put this second Game Boy Kirby out in 1995, between the original Dream Land and the later color follow-up. A spark swallowed while riding Coo is a different tool from the same spark on foot.
Dark Matter is the threat at the end of the rainbow islands. Puzzles that need Kine's swimming form will not open for a player who never goes back for the right partner.
