History

Story duels arrive with the Millennium Star in Mario Party 3. The Millennium Star's duel can ignore the four-player couch. Hudson's board game, released in 2000, was the last Mario Party of its kind on the Nintendo 64, and Daisy and Waluigi join the playable roster for those duels.

Partner battles and item shops change a star chase that the first two boards resolved mostly by minigames and coins. A one-on-one story match can ignore the four-player living room and still use the same dice.

Later party games moved to other consoles. The Millennium Star's campaign and the duel maps close the Nintendo 64 run.
