History

Crayon hills and a flutter jump carry Baby Mario in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, where the eggs are both ammo and a way to hit a distant post. Kamek's toadies snatch the baby when the timer after a hit runs out.

Yoshi's aim with a thrown egg solves puzzles a stomp cannot. The crayon shading and the pastel enemies are the look of the stages, and Baby Bowser is the reason Kamek interferes.

The game arrived in 1995 as a Super Nintendo Yoshi platformer, a spin on Mario World rather than a kart or a party board. The egg, the flutter, and the baby on the saddle are the verbs.
